NADA x Foreland is a collaborative weekend exhibition that took place August 28–29, 2021 at Foreland—a new arts campus in upstate New York—featuring artworks installed in a historic industrial building in the center of Catskill, New York. Greg Allen-Muller was invited to exhibit the new sculptural piece “The Chair”.

Allen-Müller happened to spend the majority of 2020 in lockdown in his family house in Delaware county working at a wooden shack that played a role of a studio. In the production of the “Chair”, the artist followed his immediate intent of capturing tangible emptiness. The process of incorporating aluminum was done entirely by hand giving way to the material’s own expression. In the work, Allen-Müller combined two ideas that he has used in various works throughout his career - negative space and reflection.
